1. Only children of the expatriate community, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan are eligible for admission.
2. Age requirements are as follows:
Pre-Kindergarten: a child must be three (3) years old by September 1st.
Kindergarten: a child must be five (5) years old by September 1st.
Children thereafter will be placed in an appropriate grade as per the decision of the Principal.

Children may be moved with the approval of the Principal upon teacher recommendations and after consultation with the parents and the Headmaster.
3. For new students who enroll at XIS, the school
reserves the right to assess and evaluate that student's eligibility
both during and after admission. If the school determines that it
cannot provide an adequate program for that student, it reserves the
right to cancel the admission contract and refund the unused portion
of the tuition and bus fee. No other fees, including the registration
fee, are refundable.
4. Denial or Retraction of Admissions
4.1 Admission may be denied in the case of a serious or potentially contagious illness or for an incapacity or learning disability or for a behavioral problem for which XIS does not have the specialized personnel or resources necessary to deliver an appropriate or effective instructional program.
4.2 A student's admission may be retracted due to an expulsion that resulted from acts that in the judgment of the administration are in gross violation of established school rules and regulations regulating the health, safety, instructional environment and reputation of XIS.
4.3 The administration may retract admission after concluding that its efforts to deliver an effective program have been unsuccessful due to a lack of specialized personnel or resources and that it is in the best interests of the student in question to seek a more effective program elsewhere.
4.4 The administration may retract admission for failure to pay tuition or fees that are in arrears for more than thirty (30) days without prior written authorization from the XIS administration granting a delay under a specified timeline and after repeated notification by phone or letter to the party responsible for payment has been unsuccessful.
4.5 The administration may exercise
its prerogatives as a private school and retract admission if a
student's parent engages in repeated harassment of a teacher ,staff
member, or administrator at XIS that in the considered judgment
of the administration, is unjustly damaging to the personal or professional
reputation of the individual in question or that is in violation
of that individual's right to be treated in a decent and fair manner
or that is unjustly damaging to the reputation of the school. The
administration will consult with the parent representatives on the
Board and will provide a written report to the Board of Directors
before taking such action. Examples of such behavior that could
lead to a retraction of a student's admission would be:
- repeated, willful disrespect for the school policies and regulations
- willful falsification of student records
- slander or defamation of character by direct means or through rumor and innuendo
- proselytizing religion or engaging in other activities in violation of PRC laws
- demonstration of racial, religious or ethnic intolerance
- demonstration of disrespect for Chinese customs or beliefs
- inappropriate advances of a personal or sexual nature toward students or employees of XIS
- repeated, willful interference in the implementation of the curricular program or the administration of the school
