Young students spend most of their day speaking and listening to the English language.

Xiamen International School (XIS) was established in August 1997 and is located on the southern coast of China in Fujian Province. XIS was the first international school in Fujian Province to be authorized by the Ministry of Education to accept expatriate students. It is rapidly joining the ranks of the world’s finest schools according to international school standards. We employ credentialed teachers and administrators from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, and China. XIS also employs local assistant teachers for each of the elementary homerooms. Our program supports students from twenty-nine different countries and regions including the United States, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Ethiopia, Angola, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Japan and Latin America.

XIS is fully authorized as an IB World School offering all three levels of the International Baccalaureate programmes: Primary Years (Grades PK-5), Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10) and Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12) to students.  XIS is pleased to have had high school graduating classes since 2001. XIS is also accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). XIS joins over 4000 schools and institutes accredited by WASC from the western portion of the United States and areas of the Pacific Rim including Stanford University, the University of California, and the University of Southern California.

Our students are encouraged to become quality-minded individuals who maintain high levels of academic achievement. Students also develop an appreciation for and understanding of culture, fine arts, and humanities. Students are also guided to develop attitudes and behaviors associated with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

XIS moved to its current campus in June 2002. The full-featured facility is over 30,000 square meters in size and includes a gymnasium, a soccer field, a running track, three basketball courts, and indoor swimming pool. The facility also includes a library, science labs, IT labs and a large cafeteria that can accommodate all students and staff.
