The Board believes that the tie between Kao Yip Middle School with a 110 years of history/a successful Chinese traditional virtue and Xiamen International School with 21 years of IB educational experience will lead the two schools to further improvement through academic exchanges, visits of faculty and students, resource sharing, and other valuable exchanges aiming at educating students to have a global vision and contribute socially and economically to the world.

The Headmaster reported that he would be happy and is responsible to lead to build up a distinct vision for the next ten or twenty years with a purpose to move the school forward and consolidating its reputation. After this, the Headmaster utilized graphs of the tuition fees and the salary packages with the similar schools in the region, as well as graphs as to what areas for growth for XIS. All the graphs have shown in detail for the needs to raise our tuition and fees. As a result, the Headmaster proposed to have a slight tuition and fees increase for the new school year for returning students and put the new tuition and fees package in effect starting from January 2 of 2019 for those who will be newly enrolled. The Board responded to the Headmaster’s proposal and had a thorough discussion before the proposal was approved.

The Board of Directors agreed upon the Headmaster’s proposal to have four sections for Grade One and three sections for Grade 3 in School Year of 2019 – 2020.

The Headmaster debriefed the Board members on personnel needs for the following school year. The Board appreciates the headmaster who has worked hard in motivating the teachers to stay at XIS for next school year. The Board commended that the turnover rate for this year is approximately 10%, which was the lowest in the past many years. The Board and the head shared the same page that great teachers are the foundation for a first-class school, while the strong faculty team is the ladder for the educational excellence.
